Serotta's lugged MEIVICI SE and HSG frames stand out at the American Handmade Show like Paris Hilton at a hillbilly barbeque, but somehow they also fit in. The Meivici SE and HSG frames reflect Serotta's traditional handmade steel roots. It is unusual to see carbon used in such a aesthetically simple traditional way. These lugged carbon frames are understated, lacking that "programmed eye fatique" of radical monocoque designs that date themselves out of the box by copying others and changing the design every year or two. We have smartly chosen a mixed parts group to suit an HSG Ready Custom frame, carefully combining components for best strength to weight ratio, balancing cost with weight reduction. The result is simply light and right. The weight of the complete package (pedals are NOT included in the build) on a 55cm frame is 15.5 pounds. Notice shipping is included. The La Sal Mountain Road Group is flexible group inspired by Moab's weird, rough and lonely backroads. This build is especially appropriate for the Serotta Classique frame with sport touring or cyclocross geometry. This build will handle difficult road conditions, steep climbs, long descents, huge mileage and, in the case of CX frames, dirt roads and trails. This build turns a cross frame into an all around bicycle capable of CX racing, all-road touring and off-road riding. If you desire an exotic commuter bike based on a Serotta frame, this build is a good place to start. We can specify rack and fender mounts, and provide custom racks and lights. Steel's technological advance as a wonder metal for bicycle frames never stopped, even while the easily-led masses drool over the millions of dollars of fancy marketing thrown at carbon fiber. Serotta understands steel not only continues to compete with other frame materials, it is actually better in many regards. Serotta still considers steel to be their main squeeze. Serotta steel frames feature tiny fish scale TIG welds--maybe the best we have seen, but the ride is sublime, stiff and lively while deadening road vibration just enough to make chip seal bearable. Proprietary conical tubing tunes compliance and stiffness into appropriate areas of the frame.

We consider the Serotta Colorado to be the best steel frame made in America. Serotta keeps its designs in line with performance and form-fits-function aesthetics. The finish is lush and deep. The details are telling of the overall construction. The result is easy on the eye, and rock solid. Strange wiggles and candy stripes on Chinese-made carbon frames with Italian names do not make you bike go faster, and while the effects on aerodynamics are arguable, the effects on your good taste and wallet are not. Appreciation for the aesthetics of flash-in-the-pan designs will wear thin as new designs come onto the market that are even more threatening to your grandmother. Each build kit is personalized to suit your needs and desires. We use only the best wheels and componentry from Deda, Campy, 3T, Fizik, Brooks, Cinelli, Zipp, Chris King, Thomson, Reynolds, Easton, Tune, DT, Look, Time, Selle Italia, Moots, Gravity Research, Full Speed Ahead, Mavic, Fulcrum, Bontrager, Bike Ribbon, and others. Our handbuilt wheelsets are always a best choice, featuring hubs by Chris King, Phil Wood and Campagnolo, Mavic rims and DT spokes exclusively. Factory built wheelsets from Campy, Zipp, SRAM and Easton are favorite choices for Serotta carbon frames.
The Serotta HSG's top tube cable stops are riveted to the carbon tube. The tube itself, like other Serotta models, is conical, tapering from head tube to seat tube lugs. The downtube is also conical, tapering from the bottom bracket junction lug to the headtube lug. This stiffens the frame in places where it must tranfer power and torque loads, while allowing compliance in just the right spots to keep the ride smooth and the bike on the ground.
The Serotta HSG's head tube cable stops eliminate cable rub and rattle, saving paint and the added weight of a few inches of housing. To a builder, this is a much appreciated design flourish.
The Serotta CXII is an aero steel frame with a carbon seatstay for time trial and triathlon. The proprietary triple butted Colorado Concept tubing gives this bike all the best qualities of steel but with greater resistance to corrosion than any previous stell alloy. The CXII is comfortable, yet stiff for maximum efficiency. Tube selection varies with rider fit and weight.
