In anticipation of the arrival of the Moots Divide and Moots MX Divide, I'd like to say that we will miss the Cinco, Mooto-Xz, as well as the Zirkel and Zirkel Gristle. With the arrival of the tube benders at Moots, we are looking forward to an exciting new era for Moots that will overshadow its roots and legacy. Success is a moving target, but Moots has nailed it in 2011 with its new line of RSL road, cross and 9er frames. The Divide frames will do the same for their full suspension reputation.

We used to think the Cinco was expensive, right? So, I guess the most glaring reason for wishing the three Moots frame models the Divide will replace could stay in the line is that they all cost a lot less than five thousand dollars. But, let's not forget better reasons for their appreciation that may inspire you to grab up a Zirkel, Mooto-Xz or Zirkel Gristle while they are discounted by fifteen to twenty percent. The discount mostly offsets the cost of a full custom frame, so anyone who wants or needs custom geometry should truly consider this offer while it exists. Dreamride holds the secrets to 69er geometry and fork offset and this is the only opportunity to take advantage of our experience with this particular frame configuration in a Moots bike at such a good price.

The Cinco is gone. Face it. Just like grandma. Grandma got old, but the Cinco won't. It died young. The frames will be with us for a while longer, because they are Moots. The classic four bar linkage lives on in the Ventana line and attached to our own F-69, and frankly both those versions were quite a bit faster. If you want a Cinco, we can make Moots build one for you or sell you a Ventana or Dreamride F-69, but frankly, the Divide is made to kill the Cinco. Put your money down on a Divide. The Cinco was going to cost you a lot already.

The Mooto-Xz, Zirkel and Zirkel Gristle 69er are different animals. They serve specific needs and may be a better choice than the Divide or MX Divide at this point in time, when you take into consideration the cost and the bike's use. If you want a better all-around bicycle, get the Zirkel, if you are under 5'7". The Xz is awesome, if you are over 5'7" or have a long torso at around 5'6". The Xz builds an especially effective long distance all-terrain touring bike, perfect for our Ride From Town (RFT) parts philosophy. When set up right, the Zirkel Gristle is an advantage to anyone riding technical mountain singletrack over roots and rocks. This is demonstrated best with our F-69 bike, but the Zirkel can be faster on a climb. We consider it a short travel version of the F-69, which has almost 6" of travel in the rear. The Zirkel has four, so we approach it in a different way when building the bike up.

While the Xz is a more traditional triangulated frame, the Divide tightens things up with curves, moving the tubes into the best spot with a gentle turn or a fancy, perfectly mitered junction. All the Divide's design ichallenges are handled with advanced craftsmanship, while those same challenges are approached through tradition and simplicity in the Mooto-Xz. Right now, you have a choice. Sometime in the middle of 2012, you will only have the Divide and MX Divide to choose from. I am keeping my Xz, but I will look forward to owning an MX Divide. Or, perhaps a custom Divide 69er?
